Frequently asked questions.

What brokers do you recommend for day trading options?

Trade Station, Lightspeed, or Interactive Brokers. My current broker is Trade Station.

What broker do you recommend for swing trading options?

Tastyworks is a great platform/broker for setting up and executing advanced option strategies.

What charting software do you use / recommend?

Here’s some pros and cons on the products I’ve used:

  • ThinkorSwim - Powerful platform with good charts. Horrible executions for day trading.

  • TC2000 - Beautiful charting platform that’s very easy to use. Limited chart history data.

  • eSignal - Fast and reliable charting platform. Very expensive.

  • Trade Station - All in one charting platform and good broker with fast executions. The charts aren’t as easy to use as other platforms. Occasional stability issues.

What are the primary indicators you recommend?

9ema, 20sma, 50sma, 200sma.

What are your favorite time frames?

60min is the most important timeframe for me these days. I look for 60min setups and use the 30min, 15min, and 5min to monitor the lower timeframes. I also look at the 4 hour, daily, weekly and monthly timeframes to see the larger trend.

How long have you been trading?

Since 2017.

What type of trader are you?

I look for value when stocks are at extremes. My best edge is exploiting trend reversals.

What is your ideal scalp setup?

Extreme extension on multiple time frames into a key level of support or resistance, ideally with multiple confluence factors (swing high/low, pivot point level, volume exhaustion, moving average, etc.) The extended nature of the move leads to a high probability of a snap back rally.

In what order do you prioritize technical analysis?

  1. Trend reversal levels on the 60min & 5min

  2. Weekly & Daily levels

  3. Premarket high/low

  4. Fibonacci

  5. Moving averages on the 60min timeframe

  6. Moving averages on the Daily timeframe
